Civil Unions
Civil Unions between same sex couples became legal in Hawaii starting in 2012. Currently, we have one officiate who will perform same-sex marriages. You can select any type of ceremony style that we offer on our Order Form for your Civil Union.
We do not guaranty the correctness of this information. We are not legal experts or experts in this new law. We suggest you go directly to the marriage license office for the State of Hawaii to get current information.
This is what we can ascertain:
Applications for a license can be obtained in the normal manner, but only from the State Health Dept office on the Hawaiian island you are getting married on. We do not know if they are available on-line.
Your ceremony must be performed by a officiate certified for civil unions for the State of Hawaii and submitted to the Health Dept.
We suggest that you research the laws of your home State or country and/or check with your home licensing bureau to determine the acceptance and recognition of your civil union performed in Hawaii i.e. just because it is recognized in Hawaii does not mean it will recognized with the same rights anywhere else.
