Magic Island is within Ala Moana Beach Park which is a regional park across the street from the Ala Moana Shopping Center and just outside Waikiki.
It's about 15-25 minutes away from Waikiki depending upon traffic and your hotel.
It's convenient, scenic, photographs well, has plenty of parking at most times, handicap accessible, and has one of the best views of the iconic Diamond Head landmark.
This location can be used from morning to afternoon. We suggest 11 am or later with the afternoon starting at 3 to 5 pm best, and sunset.
FYI: Friday's can be very busy and we do not suggest times later than 4-5 pm depending upon the season. See below.
The area we use is about 200 yards from the parking lot, on the grass, with an unobstructed view of the ocean, Waikiki, and Diamond Head.
FYI: We do not use the sunset as a background for ceremonies, it's too bright.
FYI: The beach is set too low and the wrong orientation for ceremonies and there will be too people in the background. We can do sunset photos on the beach if during the right months and ordered with an extended portrait session. See above photo.
If you want something easy, something close, something simple and nice, this is the place.
IMPORTANT: Friday at sunset has lately, been very busy at sunset time. Simply, it's a great place to chill out and there's a Waikiki fireworks show (most Friday's) fronting the Hilton Hawaiian Village. Parking is a problem so, irrespective of your ceremony time, you will want to be finding parking will before 5:00 pm. Also, Friday is the day when park events do set-ups, causing the same problems. If any of this might cause a disappointment for you, select another day, time, or location.
