Like the Eifel Tower and the Golden Gate Bridge, Diamond Head and Waikiki in the background all say, "I got married in Hawaii"!
If you really want a simple wedding that's easy for both you and all of your guests, this is the spot.
Magic Island is within Ala Moana Beach Park just outside Waikiki, about 10-20 minutes away, and depending upon traffic .
It's super convenient, scenic, and photographs well. Plus it has lots of parking Monday to Thursday, it's handicap accessible, and we absolutely love the late afternoon light for photos :)
We can do Monday to Thursday, morning to sunset without any problems. Friday's work but, just so you know, it can be busy in the late afternoon and especially in the summer and Christmas holidays (no parking).
We do Saturday in the mornings and Sunday mornings and at sunset. It's a beach recreation area and like anywhere on the weekend, it gets busy during the day as do all beach locations.
We walk about 200 yards from the parking lot and use a spot up against the jetty and ocean to give the best unobstructed view of the ocean, Waikiki, and Diamond Head
We do not use the beach for ceremonies. The direction we need to shoot with Diamond Head is below the park sidewalk and you'll have miniature people walking in and out of your ears in the background.
It can be used from morning to sunset. Afternoon has the best light as the sun is facing you with everything lit and the ocean and sky are blue (when it's sunny lol). Morning works too but, depending upon the time of year and conditions, there can be a bright glare on the ocean making it less saturated in color earlier in the mornings.
We do not use the sunset as a background for ceremonies, it's too bright but, we can do sunset photos on the beach during the fall/winter and depending upon the conditions i.e. when there are no clouds to block the sun, we do silhouette shots. Order a extended portrait sunset session on our order form.
